The head of the Spanish government Pedro Sanchez considered double the double standards in the European Union in relation to Russia, against which sanctions were imposed. At the same time, according to the politician, there was no similar measures to Israel and the Association Agreement still continues to operate.

“Today, at a meeting of the European Council, I will defend the idea that Europe should suspend the Association Agreement with Israel and you need to do it immediately. There is no point in the fact that 18 packages of sanctions are introduced against Russia. At the same time, Europe, following the double standard, is not even capable of suspending the association agreement when, in this case, Israel is grossly violating Article 2 Association agreements with the EU on respect for human rights, ”said the Prime Minister.

Once again, Sanchez called for the introduction of an embargo for the supply of weapons to Israel and individual sanctions against those who prevent the settlement of the situation based on the principle of creating two states.

In addition, the official responded to the threats of US President Donald Trump due to refusal to bring military spending to 5% of GDP. Sanchez said that Spain is a sovereign state and has the right to independently make a decision.

“Spain is a country that is committed to the course of the member states of the Alliance, but also sovereign. Trade policy is a policy that is sent from here from Brussels, we are in the customs union. And the trade policy is obviously discussed by Brussels on behalf of all participating countries,” he added.
