In the country, it is planned to carry out the next reform, which theoretically capable of hitting the owners of hybrids and electric vehicles. So, the Spanish government is developing a bill on revising the system of environmental stickers from DGT, on the basis of which cars receive permission to enter the zones with limited traffic (ZBE).
It is noted that the reason for such actions was an amendment to the law on sustainable mobility proposed by the political platforms of Sumar, ERC, Bildu and BNG. It requests changes in the current criteria and adding the level of Co₂ emissions as a mandatory parameter when providing stickers. The final decision is expected before the end of the year, and any adjustments will not have return. Thus, the already obtained stickers will remain.
Several million cars in the country are threatened at once, since the labels of “0 Emisiones” and “ECO” give the right to free entry into ZBE, while cars with tags C and B are increasingly prohibiting (for example, such a case was observed in Bilbao). In addition, many cars do not have the right to the sticker, so they are closed access to most cities.
The problem is that many hybrids and electric cars with a “green” sticker throw more harmful substances than simple gasoline machines with a mark C. If the reform passes, then the “green sticker” will cease to be a guarantee of benefits and freedom of movement.
